Arts program to help young locals discover their passion

Whether you are a budding performer, a tech enthusiast, or just curious about the arts, 'Find Your Story' offers the perfect springboard to new skills and possibilities.
A new collaboration between Arts Margaret River and Concrete Club will offer young locals the chance to take part in a series of workshops designed to empower them through hands-on, multidisciplinary theatre making.
Dubbed ‘Find Your Story’, the program will transform Nala Bardip Mia into a vibrant hub where young creatives can explore, collaborate and craft original performance work under the guidance of leading industry professionals.
The ten-week pilot program will begin at the end of this month and run until October 1, with workshops held each Wednesday from 3.30pm to 5.00pm.
Participants will discover the art of storytelling and devise their own performances, experiment with acting, movement, writing, sound, lighting and stagecraft, and build confidence, community connection and a spirit of creative risk taking in a supportive, inclusive environment.
They will also meet professional artists and technicians, to gain insights into careers across the arts sector.
“We are inviting our youth to spend time with us to learn an array of theatre making skills, build their personal creativity and, we hope, open future employment pathways,” Michelle Wright, General Manager of Arts Margaret River said. “This year-long pilot project lets regional youth engage with diverse dramatic elements and creative exploration while fostering connection.”
Workshop facilitator Jacque Ashworth, Director of Concrete Club, added: “I’m incredibly stoked to collaborate with Arts Margaret River on this exciting opportunity.
“From creating performances to diving into the tech world, these guided mentorships will help young people find and share their stories.”
The workshops ($20pp) will be held at Nala Bardip Mia Margaret River HEART. For more details, visit www.artsmargaretriver.com
