Global geography guru to make stop in South West

Professor David Keeling is a leading expert on cultural geography, and will speak in Margaret River on July 3.
Locals will have the chance to hear from popular speaker, and cultural expert Dr David Keeling next month.
Hosted by the University of the Third Age (U3A), the event is open to members and non-members and will see Dr Keeling make a flying visit Margaret River.
“The U3A is delighted to welcome David, a speaker who is in demand world-wide, and who is in WA for only 3 days,” U3A President Ross Goulden said. “David has chosen to visit Margaret River and to speak exclusively at this event.”
Speaking on Latin America in the 21st Century: Changes and Opportunities, Dr Keeling will give an overview of the state of the region and its likely future.
“David is passionate about geography, about the why, and the where, and he delights in sharing his enthusiasm with others.”
Dr Keeling has lectured on over 50 expeditions and cruises since 1994, and has visited over 2,500 unique destinations, including most of the world’s official political states and territories. He represents the American Geographical Society as an expedition and destination lecturer.
Having lived in the UK and Australia, Dr Keeling now resides in the USA where he is the Distinguished Professor of Cultural Geography Emeritus at Western Kentucky University.
He has published widely on transportation, cultural identity, cities, rock music, and political geography and is the recipient of the Alan Hay Award from the Royal Geographical Society in London, in recognition of his services to transport geography.

Dr Keeling will speak at the Margaret River District Club on Thursday July 3 from 4pm. Entry is $20 pp and U3A members & non-members are welcome.
