Locals chase away winter blues at Cabin Fever | Photos
The region’s much loved winter festival kicked off on the weekend, with punters rugging up against the cold to savour the best of the South West’s food, wine, beer and spirits.
Live entertainment, blazing fires and quirky collaborative events kept crowds warm as they flocked to The Cabin on the foreshore, hosted by event partners Shelter Brewing Co.
Tony and the team from Gnarabup venue The Common took on Rustico at Hayshed Hill, Supper Road, Shelter Brewing Co and Uncle Sam’s Smoke Shack to claim the coveted 2025 Cheese Toastie Battle.
On Thursday, industry partners and local leaders gathered at the purpose-built venue to ring in the start of the 2025 event, where Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson led a warm welcome.
Now in its ninth year, the festival also received good news from the WA State Government, which announced it will fund the program for another three years.
“Cabin Fever Festival puts a worthy spotlight on the passionate people involved in the South West’s food, wine and beverage scene,” Mr Dawson said. “Events like this offer a huge boost to the local economy, bringing together all the amazing aspects of the South-West including wine, food and entertainment.
“This festival has grown in popularity since its inception and helps local businesses thrive in the quieter winter months, allowing visitors to enjoy what the region has to offer.”
