New wave of support for South West women

July 31, 2025 BY

The LEEF program will support up to 10 women over six months as they develop career, education, or business pathways.

A new program about to launch will offer regional businesses and organisations the opportunity to partner in creating lasting change for women in the South West.

LEEF (Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Emotional Resilience and Financial Independence) will support up to 10 women over six months as they develop career, education, or business pathways, while building self-confidence, financial resilience, and practical, work-ready skills.

Participants will also form supportive networks that reduce isolation and create new opportunities.

The program, delivered by Vasse-based Innovation Cluster, provides workshops, mentoring, co-working space, and ongoing support.

Managing Director Dr Natasha Teakle said the program was designed to address financial hardship, workforce re-entry, mental health challenges, and the underrepresentation of women in business.

She acknowledged the support of the City of Busselton in supporting the first upcoming pilot for the LEEF Hub.

“LEEF is more than a program – it’s a community-wide investment in resilience, economic participation, entrepreneurship and social wellbeing,” Dr Teakle said.

“We invite partners who share our vision of empowering women and improving workforce equity to join us in this important work.”

Participants will benefit from industry-led workshops covering financial literacy, entrepreneurship, leadership, emotional resilience, and career planning; one-on-one mentoring; tailored individual support, referrals to counselling and legal services when needed; and ongoing networking and alumni connections.

“LEEF is about building a safe, supportive community where women can thrive,” Dr Teakle said.

“We look forward to seeing the incredible impact these women will make in their own lives and in the broader community.”
