Busselton defeated Eaton at Bovell Park on Sunday afternoon, in the final game of round 15 of the SWFL season.

On a day that endured wild winds and torrential rain, it was fitting that the skies parted momentarily for Ethan Bowman to run through a banner to celebrate his 200th game.

It would take just 32 seconds for Liam Creighton to snap a long goal from the boundary line, as the Magpies got off to a perfect start. A precision pass set up Creighton’s second goal and when Bowman kicked a goal from right in front, players came from everywhere to celebrate.

It was evident Liam Creighton was in for a big day when he kicked his third goal for the term, as the Magpies kept the Boomers goal-less in the opening term.

The second quarter would be one way traffic on the scoreboard, with Busselton kicking six consecutive goals, with Creighton kicking the last of them to have four goals in the first half. Eaton’s only goal came from Mekhi Yarran who converted a set shot on the stroke of half time.

The third quarter was a continuation of the first half with Busselton dominating the match, with the only saving grace for Eaton being the conditions made Busselton very inaccurate.

Heavy rain again fell in the last term, with Busselton converting just two of nine scoring shots, on the way to a 94 point win.

South Bunbury defeated Donnybrook at VC Mitchell Park on Sunday. Scoring was at a premium in the first term, with just three goals kicked, with the Tigers leading by five points at quarter time.

The Tigers made their move in the second, kicking three goals to open up a commanding 23 point lead. The Dons missed two shots at goal midway through the term which would lead to a turn over and a goal at the opposite end, as the defending premiers went to half time 27 points in front.

The Dons came out after half time with purpose, kicking the opening two goals of the term, as the margin was pegged back to sixteen points.

After the Dons third goal, it would be one way traffic, as South Bunbury dominated the remainder of the match, restricting Donnybrook to one behind, while kicking the last six goals of the match to record a 54 point win.

The Tigers have now consolidated second spot on the ladder while Donnybrook have dropped to fifth.

Blaine Johnson continued his good form up forward kicking three goals along with Tyson Lane, while Tom Gallaway played well. Ned Shannon and Sam Perkusich played good games for the Dons, with Shannon kicking two goals.

Collie (18.10.118) defeated Dunsborough (7.8.50) by 68 points at the Collie Recreation Ground, ensuring a massive celebration for Adam Bignell, who became the first Eagle, and just the 10th player in South West Football League history to play 300 league games.

Collie have the bye in round sixteen, while Dunsborough will be looking to redeem themselves when they play Eaton in Dunsborough next Sunday.

Bunbury (17.14.116) overcame a tenacious Harvey Bulls (7.3.45) to take the four points on Saturday afternoon.

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault (13.14.92) consolidated its position in the top five on Saturday, with a win over Augusta Margaret River (9.7.61).

On a cold afternoon at Brunswick Oval, the Lions faced an understrength Hawks line-up, with the club having as many as 19 players out injured, and another dozen with the flu, leaving some unable to recognise some of the players.

Witnessed by one of the smallest crowds in many years, the Hawks kicked the opening two goals, and led by four points at quarter time.

Leading by sixteen points at half time, the Lions consolidated the advantage in the third quarter, with Jarrod Humphries kicking the first goal of the term, the first of five unanswered goals, giving the home side a 48 point lead at three quarter time.

The final term saw the Hawks mount a fight back, kicking six goals for the term, and four in succession, but the Lions would prevail by 31 points. Ty Anderson continued his good form, as did Jack Fletcher, while Max Spyvee continued his excellent form as the Hawks best player.
