With three existing seats on the Augusta Margaret River Shire Council set to become vacant this year and an additional position set to be created, locals are being encouraged to nominate ahead of the October elections.

Candidates can nominate to run in the election, set to be held by mail ballot, with the official polling day on Saturday October 21, 2023.
The nomination period will run from 9am on Thursday August 31, until 4pm on Thursday September 7.
"As directed by the Local Government Minister and under the new legislation, we're required to add another Councillor so we're encouraging community members to consider nominating," Shire CEO Stephanie Addison-Brown said.
The terms of Shire President Paula Cristoffanini and councillors Brian Daniel and Kylie Kennaugh are set to expire in October, with new four year terms open for the four positions.
Councillors Julia Meldrum, David Binks, Ian Earl and Tracey Muir's terms expire in 2025.
